Halliburton Sued for Role in Nigerian Bribery Scandal Posted: 31 Jul 2009 04:40 PM PDT Earlier this year, Halliburton agreed to pay nearly $560 million in fines to the federal government to end an investigation into its former subsidiary, KBR, and its involvement in bribing Nigerian officials to get construction contracts. It was reportedly the largest fine ever paid by a U.S. company in a foreign bribery investigation. |

Then and Now: 10 Totally Transformed Toys Posted: 31 Jul 2009 04:00 PM PDT We all remember that one toy that we just couldn't seem to let go of when we were kids. Many of those playthings still exist today, but oh how they've changed over the years. For the most part, the companies that create them still have the same concept in mind, but have upgraded the products by embracing new technologies or reworking the branding. |

Posted: 31 Jul 2009 02:10 PM PDT The Food and Drug Administration is testing a Diet Pepsi can that a central Florida man claims had the remains of a possible rodent inside. Fred Denegri of Ormond Beach took a few sips from the can on July 23, only later to discover what was inside. He said the rodent was big enough that it wouldn't come out of the can. |
How to Make an Electronic Display With Paper & Mood-Ring Ink Posted: 31 Jul 2009 01:50 PM PDT Using cheap materials that anyone can order by mail, scientists built several color-changing electronic displays on sheets of ordinary paper. Microsoft on Yahoo Deal: Nobody "Gets It" Posted: 31 Jul 2009 11:00 AM PDT We were hoping that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer would have something interesting to say about the market's reaction to the search deal. And once again, he does not fail us. At a meeting with industry analysts this morning, Microsoft's leader described the negative reaction of Yahoo investors to the deal with three words: "Nobody gets it." |
