The Decade in Online Video, P1: The Early Years Posted: 02 Jan 2010 04:40 PM PST The years from 2000 to 2009 were in many ways not only the birth of online video as a mass medium, but the end of television as we know it. The first decade of the 21st century had its fair share of memorable moments. What really set these years apart from decades before is how these moments and others were being shared digitally. |

Chrysler Will Display Electric Fiat 500 at Detroit Auto Show Posted: 02 Jan 2010 02:20 PM PST Does an electric Fiat 500 stand a chance? Chrysler canceled its short-lived ENVI program after just a few months, and made more realistic projections about how much of its fleet will be electrified in the new few years. Are they serious about an electric 500 now, or still putting on a show for their Washington overlords? |

Are L.A.'s Streets Any Safer with $446 Red-Light Tickets? Posted: 02 Jan 2010 10:40 AM PST In October, a piece of what looked like junk mail sent to me from a P.O. box turned out to contain grainy pictures of my car, license plate and face in the classic L.A.-driving-trance position. I'd been captured on camera doing a "California roll" while making a right turn at a red light at Balboa Avenue and Vanowen Boulevard. The damage was $446. |

Posted: 02 Jan 2010 08:30 AM PST Benjamin Franklin said it best: "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." For sure, men love their alcohol: The average American guy drinks about 23 gallons of beer, 15 pints of wine and 10 pints of spirits every year. All in all, each year, about 200 million barrels (that's 6.2 billion gallons) of beer are produced and ... |

Fox News spent weeks promoting "Tea Party Express" scam Posted: 02 Jan 2010 08:10 AM PST The political action committee that organized the Tea Party Express ("Our Country Deserves Better PAC") funneled almost two-thirds of its spending back to the political consulting firm from which it was spawned. More than $850,000 of the money the "grassroots" PAC collected went to the firm of GOP political operatives who ran it. |
