Can Tom Cruise Movies Stop a Flaming Arrow? Posted: To finally put an end to this mystery, I have concocted a completely unbiased and meaningless experiment which will reveal the answer, like all true science, through metaphor. Using Tom Cruise's own body of work to act as his champion, I will launch arrows at them at high velocity, to determine if the movies reject the stiff shafts, or allow them to penetrate deep within. |

Newsflash Guys: Porn Isn't Real! Posted: Often when I meet a new girl and tell her I'm a fireman I get inquisitive responses like, "I cried so hard at the end of 'Ladder 49'. Is being a firefighter really like that?" Although playing the "Ladder 49" card really hard would probably increase the odds of me getting laid, I usually take the honorable route and answer, "Don't believe everything you see in the movies." Men should use the same advice when it comes to porn. |
Duane Peters: The Master Of Disaster Posted: To say that Duane Peters is a living legend is an understatement. Since the birth of skateboarding, DP was at the top, shredding pools and becoming known as the Master of Disaster. Duane Peters was the inventor of numerous vert and pool tricks in the 80s, like the acid drop, invert revert, sweeper and fastplant. Duane is one of the first skateboarders to push the punk rock movement and currently plays with three punk rock bands: U.S. Bombs, Die Hunns and Duane Peters Gunfight. Through his drug addictions and rehabilitations, and during his long and varied punk music career, Peters has continued skateboarding. As a member of the skateboarding club Beer City, he has participated in contests nationwide through his late 30s and into his early 40s. Within the skate-punk subculture, he has maintained a devoted following, and is celebrated as a pioneer. At 48 years old DP is still entering Masters contests of the bowl riding variety and is still ripping! |

Posted: I will not go into detail about why I visited the doctor last night, but after describing my symptoms and being the subject of a rigorous examination, his first question was, "Do you ride a bicycle?" When I said yes, everywhere, he gave me his prescription: "Get a new bicycle seat." I was seriously relieved, but even though my beloved doctor has told me before to "never trust Dr. Google", I wanted a second opinion and of course, started on TreeHugger. Andrew looked at the issue in a post two years ago and was dismissive of the concept, writing: Having ridden a bicycle nearly every day for the last 7 years and having spoken to countless other cyclists, I am of the opinion that bicycle saddles only cause numbness 1) if the bike is improperly adjusted; 2) when a rider isn't fit and 3) after a very long and intense ride. ... Facebook Is Secretly Building A Phone Posted: Facebook is building a mobile phone, says a source who has knowledge of the project. Or rather, they're building the software for the phone and working with a third party to actually build the hardware. Which is exactly what Apple and everyone else does, too. It was a little less than a year ago that we broke the news that Google was working on a phone of it's own - which was eventually revealed as the Nexus One. It was about that time, says out source, that Facebook first became concerned about the increasing power of the iPhone and Android platforms. And that awesome Facebook apps for those phones may not be enough to counter a long term competitive threat. Specifically, Facebook wants to integrate deeply into the contacts list and other core functions of the phone. It can only do that if it controls the operating system. |

Train Game: Kids Risking Their Lives for the Lulz Posted: Train Game: Kids Risking Their Lives for the Lulz There arent many examples of absolute stupidity that can compare to this. Kids in South America, particularly Colombia, are playing The Train Game where they wait for trains to come so they can lie down between the tracks and allow the train to pass over them. One young man explained what attracted him to the alarming activity. To me, its a way to do acrobatics by risking ourselves in a heroic way there at the bridge, he said. No deaths have been reported but one youth lost 2 fingers. While playing chicken with trains has happened for a while, only recently during the YouTube Age that people have taken the practice to this new level of idiocy. Below is another example from last month where a 28-year-old Chinese man dove under a train and recorded as it passed over him. * * * |
