How Halo ODST Creators Built a Blockbuster Game in 14 Months Posted: 21 Sep 2009 06:30 PM PDT Even if it doesn't break any sales records, ODST will be a success. The real question is whether Bungie's latest experiment -- a first-person shooter designed, coded and released in just 14 months -- can change the industry, showing that major studios can move more quickly, spinning pulp tales worth $60 a pop in just a year's time. |
Facebook Beacon shines for last time as part of settlement Posted: 21 Sep 2009 06:20 PM PDT Facebook's Beacon has been nothing but trouble since it launched in 2007, spurring numerous user complaints and a class-action privacy suit. The company has apparently learned its lesson, as it has now proposed a lawsuit settlement that involves shutting down Beacon and paying out $9.5 million to a settlement fund. |

The Return Of McCarthyism: Hysteria In Action On The Right Posted: 21 Sep 2009 06:00 PM PDT Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are paving the way for a return of McCarthyism with their hysterical and shrill denunciations of President Obama and his administration as secret Communists and Marxists and Fascists who actually hate America and are trying to destroy it from the inside. This video illustrates it nicely! |

MIT develops initial step toward carbon sequestration Posted: 21 Sep 2009 04:00 PM PDT Researchers at MIT have shown the benefits of a new approach toward eliminating carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions at coal-burning power plants. Their system, called pressurized oxy-fuel combustion, provides a way of separating all of the carbon-dioxide emissions produced by the burning of coal, in the form of a concentrated, pressurized liquid stream. |

Posted: 21 Sep 2009 03:40 PM PDT It's not wrong, but let's be honest, this represents at least 10 reasons why we're doomed before Twilight even enters the picture. For instance, the number two goal behind vampire is model. Additionally, it seems a lot of people are really curious about becoming anorexic. Relax, fatty, there's no entrance exam. |

File-Sharing Heroine Lilly Allen is a Copyright Hypocrite Posted: 21 Sep 2009 02:30 PM PDT The war against file-sharing has found a new figure-head. After she wrote an interesting post on MySpace, singer Lilly Allen's words have been relayed around the world – she has even started a new blog where many artists are supporting her. But what if the new face of anti-piracy was just as bad as those she criticizes? |
Terrell Owens Tweets: Cowboys Have a Tony Romo Problem Posted: 21 Sep 2009 02:20 PM PDT Terrell Owens' new team, the Buffalo Bills, won on Sunday afternoon. His old team, the Dallas Cowboys, lost on Sunday night. And Owens made it home in time not just to watch the Cowboys lose, but to go on Twitter to take a shot at his old quarterback, Tony Romo. He said, "Dallas just found out they had a T.R. problem not a T.O problem !!" |
