Most likely a young Amish man going through Rumspringa [PIC] Posted: 04 Apr 2010 04:10 PM PDT "Although I have seen Amish in Best Buy, I have never seen their "team" parked/tied up outside. Usually they find themselves in there when traveling with an "English" co-worker or driver. I found this rather rare as they typically do not do anything besides Worship and spend time with their families on Sundays." |

Parkinson's Linked to Genetic Mutation Posted: 04 Apr 2010 12:20 PM PDT New details about how a mutation in a gene called LRRK2 may cause Parkinson's disease have been uncovered by U.S. researchers. In experiments using genetically engineered mice, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine team found that LRRK2 regulates dopamine transmission and controls motor performance. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter. |
Spray-On Solar Cells Come One Step Closer to Reality Posted: 04 Apr 2010 12:00 PM PDT Scientists from the National Institute of Standards and Technology recently determined that poly(3-hexylthiopene), or P3HT, may be a useful material for creating spray-on transistors. Once the tech is optimized, we could see electronics like solar cells and displays that can be sprayed onto a surface just like paint. |

The W Hollywood won't let guests use its pool Posted: 04 Apr 2010 11:00 AM PDT In what must be a first for a big hotel, the W Hollywood is telling guests they are not permitted to use the rooftop pool. It seems ludicrous, but it's true. That's because Starwood, which owns the combination hotel/residence property at Hollywood and Vine, contracted a slew of hotel services out to third parties. |

JooJoo Tablet ships, gets dissected first Posted: 04 Apr 2010 10:20 AM PDT Can you believe it? No, seriously -- can your mind handle this realness? After months upon months of teetering on the brink of eternal vaporware, one of our engineering tipsters put his Harvard skills to good use by breaking into the casing and having a glance at the nuts and bolts. Getting inside required the removal of just ten screws... |
